My Fees and Insurance Plans I Accept
I do not accept health insurance for couple counseling or for Discernment Counseling. In order to bill insurance I would have to be diagnosing and treating one of you for a mental health diagnosis. Instead I see myself as helping the relationship through a "coaching" model. So I have decided to stay away from this "medical model" when working with couples.
My usual rate for a single, 60 minute first counseling session for a couple is $175. Subsequent couple counseling sessions last 45-50 minutes and my rate is $150.The cost for the first, 2-hour Discernment Counseling session is $350. Subsequent Discernment Counseling sessions are 90 minutes and cost $265.00.
Please feel free to reach out for more information about cost.
If you are seeking individual therapy, I am able to accept several insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Optum (United Healthcare), and Medicare (traditional Medicare only, no Medicare Advantage plans). You would be responsible for any co-pays determined by your insurance plan. If you have a Medicare supplement, they will likely pay all or most of your copay. Please reach out for more information about insurance.
In any case, for all fees including any insurance copays, I accept only credit card (or debit or HSA card). Cash is acceptable for in-person clients. I require payment at the time of service.
If you should cancel your appointment without 48 hours notice (except in emergencies), or do not appear for your appointment, I charge a fee of $100.
In order to charge your card, you may give me the card number by phone or enter it through my patient portal, or of course you may present the card in person. My system has a secure method of keeping card information that you can access in my patient portal and update when needed. You will need to authorize me to charge your card for each visit or other fee (such as no-show fees or letter writing, for example). I will not have access to your actual card information once it is saved in my system. If you need to change the card for any reason, you'll be able to do that in my patient portal.
